I’m the director of Your Other Sisters, the daughter of a Lumbee and Waccamaw Siouan woman and a man with Western European ancestry, born and raised in the Carolinas. Formerly serving as a missionary in Cambodia, listening to Keith Green’s music, being a member of several differently affiliated churches, and my 9th grade English class have all influenced my faith equally. When I’m not listening to podcasts about religion and culture, I am thrifting or frequenting karaoke bars. Showing hospitality and seeking kinship with believers are two things I am passionate about, and I invite you to do the same with me.

Ashley

I am a queer woman in a mixed-orientation marriage of 10+ years and have one son. We met on the mission field in Latin America with Youth With A Mission and currently reside in the southern United States. My journey regarding the intersection of faith and sexuality has been a private one, fitting for an introvert like me. I had to dig to find my “Side B” community, and I don’t want it to be so hard for the next teenager, cradle Christian, missionary, etc., to find a godly example. I hope my writing shows that there is no one way this looks; everyone’s story is unique and deserves to be heard. I’m passionate about exploring the nuances of “closeted vs. out,” providing resources for Latin American and Spanish-speaking communities, and discussing life in a mixed-orientation marriage and about being a queer parent.

Sarah

I’m Sarah, and you can usually find me eating pancakes and drinking slightly burnt coffee in a diner somewhere on the East Coast or in Wisconsin or wherever else I happen to be. I work in live theatre production, so it makes sense that most of my hobbies involve storytelling: lots of podcasts, lots of books, and an obsession with the institution of pop culture. I grew up overseas and am constantly trying to work out what “home” even means and how identities are formed. I also care deeply about limited edition food products and will try every single one I can get my hands on. Please send me any you find and expect a thorough review.

Priscila

My name is Priscila—with one L, like Anne with an E (lol). I’m a multicultural blend of Mexican and American roots, shaped by growing up across three different countries. I live for alt rock playlists, fantasy novels that ruin my sleep schedule, long walks on the beach (stereotypical but true), and piña coladas—bonus points if I get caught in the rain. I’m a travel junkie with a soft spot for obscure history facts, and when I’m not hopping around the globe (or daydreaming about it), I’m doing social media things in the world of marketing from sunny Southern California.

Anbi (Amber)

Hello, good morning, how ya do?

I go by Anbi. I’m of mixed Asian/Hispanic heritage, a 90s kid at heart, a permanent resident of SoCal, and in a mixed-orientation marriage. I don’t really fit in any boxes. In fact, I LOVE breaking them! I’m a HUGE Switchfoot fan, lover of all things anime and Japanese culture, enjoy cosplaying and karaoke (at the same time!), art, dance, and a good board game night! I have found belonging in both this community and my church home. May you find belonging here as well, fellow traveler!
